About The Peri-Urban Mobile Program
Waveconn has been awarded funding under the Peri-Urban Mobile Program (PUMP) round 2, to deliver new mobile infrastructure sites and support improved mobile coverage and connectivity for communities across Australia. Waveconn will deliver new mobile infrastructure sites across key areas, including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart, supporting connectivity in some of Australia’s fastest-growing masterplanned communities.
PUMP is a government grants program designed to enhance mobile connectivity in bushfire-prone peri-urban areas along the edges of Australia’s major cities. The program focuses on addressing mobile coverage and reception challenges in these fringe regions, where suburban development meets bushland and natural disaster risk is elevated for people living and working in these areas. Waveconn’s infrastructure will enable expanded services from multiple mobile network operators, improving coverage, capacity and network resilience for residents, businesses and emergency services.
PUMP complements the Mobile Black Spot Program (MBSP) by providing targeted funding to mobile network operators and infrastructure providers, including Waveconn, to deploy new telecommunications infrastructure and improve mobile coverage outcomes in peri-urban communities. Waveconn’s multi-carrier model ensures infrastructure can be shared by multiple carriers, maximising the impact of public investment while accelerating connectivity outcomes for growing communities. This program builds on Waveconn’s established partnerships with property developers to deliver connectivity early in the development lifecycle, ensuring communities are connected as they grow.
