Waveconn Awarded Funding Under PUMP

Date: 31 October 2024

In September Waveconn was awarded funding under the Australian Government’s Peri-Urban Mobile Program (PUMP). The funding awarded to Waveconn will support improved mobile connectivity and quality of service through the development of 27 new mobile sites across Hobart, Adelaide, Ballarat, Melbourne, Wollongong, Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, Tweed Heads, the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Cairns.

Waveconn was back on-site last week with the Minister of Communications, Michelle Rowland, visiting two of Melbourne’s fastest-growing residential developments: Stockland’s Evergreen in Clyde and Dennis Family Corporation’s Peppercorn Hill in Donnybrook.

Clyde, within the City of Casey, is expected to reach a population of over 500,000 by 2041 as demand for residential housing escalates. Donnybrook, situated in the City of Whittlesea, lies in a high-growth corridor projected to welcome thousands of new residents over the coming years.

In response, Waveconn will be delivering new digital infrastructure to these critical growth areas through the PUMP program, with expanded network services from TPG Telecom and Optus.

Waveconn’s independence and focus on shared mobile infrastructure supports the Federal Government’s goal of delivering reliable and competitive digital connectivity and maximising the impact of this investment for all Australian mobile users.

Peter Levinge, CEO of Dennis Family Corporation, commented: “Greater connectivity and service reliability is another positive way our fast-growing northern suburbs are developing.”

This emphasis on reliable connectivity was echoed by Cassandra Fernando, Federal MP for Holt, and Rob Mitchell, Federal MP for McEwen, who joined the site visits to highlight the value of essential infrastructure in these peri-urban growth areas.

Waveconn has been proactively partnering with property developers since launching its strategic connectivity initiative for masterplan communities in 2020.

Waveconn’s proactive developer partnerships underscore our dedication to enhancing connectivity across Australia, including in peri-urban growth areas, delivering new digital infrastructure to meet both current and future community needs.
